Rahul, Sonia Gandhi Accused Of Criminal Conspiracy In Fresh FIR In National Herald Case; What We Know So Far

Indian authorities have filed a fresh First Information Report (FIR) against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in connection with the ongoing National Herald case. The development comes as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) continues its investigation into the matter.

The National Herald case revolves around a loan of 90 crores taken by the Young Indian company, a subsidiary of the Congress party's publisher, Associated Journals Limited, to buy the National Herald newspaper. The company is allegedly owned by Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.

The new FIR accuses Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi of criminal conspiracy, cheating, and other offenses under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The allegations stem from the ED's investigation into the Young Indian company's loan, which was taken in 2010.

According to reports, the ED has discovered that the Young Indian company was formed with a share capital of 50 lakh rupees, which is significantly lower than the amount required to buy the National Herald newspaper. The agency claims that the company was formed with the intention of defrauding the banks and other creditors.

Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi have been at the center of the controversy since 2012, when Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy first filed a complaint against them. The case has been pending in court for several years, with the ED conducting multiple rounds of questioning and raids on Congress leaders.

The latest development has sparked a fresh wave of controversy, with Congress leaders accusing the BJP government of targeting them through the ED. The party has vowed to fight the charges and clear their names in court. The National Herald case is set to continue in the coming weeks, with Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi facing the possibility of being summoned by the ED for further questioning.
