India's Bowling Attack in Focus Ahead of South Africa ODI Series
Former India wicket-keeper and selector, Saba Karim, has expressed his desire to see young pacers Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna feature in India's playing XI for the first One-Day International (ODI) against South Africa in 2025.
The Indian cricket team is set to face off against the Proteas in a three-match ODI series, with the first match scheduled to take place in Johannesburg. Karim, who played 26 ODIs for India, believes that Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna possess the skills and talent to make a significant impact in the series.
"I would love to see Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna in India's playing XI for the first ODI against South Africa," Karim said in an interview. "Both bowlers have shown impressive form in domestic and international cricket, and I think they would be valuable additions to the Indian bowling attack."
Arshdeep Singh has been a consistent performer for India in limited-overs cricket, taking 40 wickets in 25 ODIs at an average of 24.15. Prasidh Krishna, on the other hand, has taken 44 wickets in 23 ODIs at an average of 24.90. Both bowlers have been touted as future stars of Indian cricket and are expected to play a key role in the team's bowling setup.
The Indian team will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing tour of Australia, where they were whitewashed 3-0 in the ODI series. Karim's endorsement of Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna is a boost to the young pacers, who will be hoping to make a statement in the series against South Africa.
