Singer Khan Saab, who rose to wider fame with ‘Dhurandhar’s track ‘Jaan Se Guzarte Hain’, recently got candid about the one person he wishes had witnessed his Bollywood journey — his late mother. In a deeply personal conversation, he reflected on how the joy of his success is intertwined with the grief of not having his parents by his side to see it.
Khan Saab recalls visiting his mother’s grave
The singer spoke about the bittersweet nature of achieving success after losing both his parents, sharing how he visited his mother’s grave following the recognition ‘Dhurandhar’ brought him. He described lying beside her grave to share the news of his Bollywood breakthrough. Speaking to Shubhankar Mishra, he said, “Maine apni ammi ki kabr pe aise let gaya ja ke… Apni ammi ke kan pe ja ke bola ‘Dekh main Bollywood ja ke aaya’ (I went and lay down on my mother’s grave like this… I went close to her ear and said, ‘Look, I went to Bollywood and came back’).“He also remembered how his mother had always recognised his potential, often nudging him toward pursuing music more seriously. He recalled her asking him, “Jate kyu nahi ho Bollywood mein (Why don’t you go to Bollywood)?,” while encouraging him to take his singing career forward.
Khan Saab reveals his mother wanted to meet Salman Khan
Khan Saab also opened up about a heartfelt memory tied to his mother’s admiration for Salman Khan. He shared that she was a huge fan of the actor and often expressed her wish to meet him. “Salman bhai ki fan thi ammi (My mother was a fan of Salman Khan),” he said, recalling how she would ask him, “Mujhe Salman Khan se mila de.” At the time, he could only respond, “Ammi main khud nahi mila aapko kaise milau (Ammi, I haven’t even met him myself. How can I introduce you to him)?”He further revealed his wish to give his mother her first-ever flight experience, hoping to fly her in business class once he could afford it, since she had never travelled by air. However, by the time he was in a position to make that dream come true, she had already passed away.
Remembering his father’s unfulfilled Dream
Khan Saab also spoke about his father’s long-held wish to see him own a Fortuner. When he finally bought the car, his father was no longer alive to witness the moment with him.Reflecting on the emotional toll of success without his parents, he said, “Paisa nahi tha, maa baap the. Paisa hai aur maa baap nahi hain (I didn’t have money, but I had my parents. Now I have money, but I don’t have my parents).” He added, “Ye cheezein miss karte hain bhot jyada… Bhot mushkil hota hai rehna maa baap ke bina (We miss these things so much… It’s very difficult to live without your parents).”
